The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare in an exclusive interview with Content News online upon arrival at the Kano airport expressed fears over the future of the APC in Oyo State arising from the inauguration of Isaac Omodewu as Oyo APC Chairman.
Responding to questions on the swearing in on the Isaac Omodewu as the chairman of Oyo APC, Dare said the leadership of the party at the National level, may have just started the process of an internal implosion of the party in Oyo state. He was categorical in saying Isaac Omodewu was not his Chairman.
“The inauguration of the Omodewu as chairman for Oyo APC on Thursday in Abuja as a rejection of the wishes of the majority and the imposition of the minority. The leaders of the APC in Oyo made several trips to Abuja to meet with the headquarters to discuss the developments around the aborted Oyo Congress. “
“The October 30th Congress which saw Omodewu picked as chairman was recognized as unauthorized and hence illegal. The leaders walked the path of reconciliation and consensus and avoided litigation in line with parry directive. Unfortunately they have just been short changed politically. The future of the APC in oyo is bleak. The party will face challenges because there are many aggrieved members. I fear for APC’s future in Oyo State.”
Content News recalls that a vast majority of the major stakeholders in Oyo APC are against the choice of Omodewu as chairman of the party, as major rejections have started from the different quarters with the elections less than 15 months away.
