-Stop the Blackmail against Minister Sunday Dare.
The office of the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare has reacted to recent sponsored and orchestrated media reports targeted at the Minister as baseless, false, and laced with evil intentions, aimed at destabilizing the team on the eve of the Olympics.
The concocted report published on Sahara Reporters by one Sylvia Ofekun is primarily aimed at deceiving the public and purposed to protect Gusau and Adeleye former AFN officials under Criminal investigation over the Puma deal.
The Ministry, in its reaction to the malicious release, said it will have nothing to do with a Puma deal with which it has no contract documentation committing Nigeria athletes to a 5-year deal.
The statement read In parts:
“We will have nothing to do with a Puma deal signed under a non-disclosure clause only known to Gusau. The kits were not even delivered but kept in Gusau’s garage for over a year.
“Ibrahim Gusau and Sunday Adeleye have been charged to court by the police IG following thorough investigations which found them guilty of funds diversion and breach of public trust. “
“Gusau is planting lies and journalists are buying the lies. The Puma kits are a subject of criminal investigations. The IG of Police charged Gusau and Sunday Adeleye to court for criminal conspiracy, theft, and abuse of public office over the AFN Puma deal.”
“Gusau and Sunday collected 75k Euros into their personal accounts and Dynamic Solution, which the anti-corruption agencies and Police have since traced.
“These Puma kits worth over a million euros have been kept in Gusau’s Garage for almost 2 years. Gusau and Sunday Adeleye must face prosecution.”
Team Nigeria will not use those PUMA kits. Instead, we are using locally produced kits which is a nod to our local content and economy. These kits have been tested and trusted and we are proud of wearing Made in Nigeria.
